Sri Ardhagiri Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh State: Sri Ardhagiri Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple has its roots in a significant event from the Ramayana. It commemorates the occasion when Veeranjaneya Swamy transported the Sanjeevana Parvatha to the battlefield to save the life of Sri Lakshmana. Nestled in the lush hills of Aragonda village in Chittoor District, this ancient temple is a 22 km drive from Kanipakam, home to South India's renowned Ganesha temple.

The name Ardhagiri derives from a Tretayuga myth involving Lord Hanuman carrying the Sanjeevani Mountain. Half of the mountain is said to have fallen at this location, hence the name Ardhagiri, translating to "Half Mountain" in the local language (Ardhra=half, giri=mountain).

As mentioned earlier, the genesis of the Sri Ardhagiri Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple is intricately linked to a glorious episode in the Ramayana. It symbolizes Lord Hanuman's immense power and unwavering devotion to his swami's brother, Lakshmana. According to legend, while carrying the Sanjeevani Parvatha, a part of the rock nearly broke off and fell at the temple's location, leading to the name Aragonda.

The temple is now situated near a large tank, where the water has come into contact with the divine Sanjeevini Medicinal plant. Over the millennia, this water has retained its extraordinary healing properties, known to cure various diseases, including TB, asthma, cancer, and joint pains. It has also demonstrated rejuvenating capabilities against lethargy, fatigue, and other physical discomforts.
