Keesaragutta Temple in Medchal District
Sri Bhakta Hanuman to Bring 101 Shivalingams From Varanasi. Sri Hanuman couldn't get back from Varanasi in time for the Muhurtham, so Lord Shiva is said to have shown up in front of Sri Ramachandra and given him a self-manifested Shivalingam to put in the right place at the right time. Sri Bhakta Hanuman returned from Varanasi with 101 Shiva lingams just after the auspicious times. He was disappointed when he saw the installation of the self-made Shivalingam, so he threw out the 101 Shivalingams he had brought from Varanasi. Kesarigiri has turned into "Keesara Gutta" over time. The temple was called Sri Ramalingeshwara Swamy Devasthanam because the Shivalingam was said to be Swayambhu Swamy.
