There were 13 districts earlier, and now the state has 26 districts. One of the new districts in Andhra Pradesh is the Kona Seema district. The district headquarters is in Amalapuram. The District has two revenue divisions, Amalapuram and Ramachandrapuram.

Kona Seema district area is 2081.16 square kilometres. There are 314 villages in the district, and the population, according to the 2011 census, is 17.19 lakhs (Male: 8.62lakhs Female:8.57lakhs). Amalapuram is the biggest town in Konaseema, followed by Razole, Ravulapalem, Kothapeta, and Mummidivaram. People here depend on agriculture and tourism for their livelihood.
