Introduction
Kerala government’s social justice department implements several social welfare schemes for the needy population. One of the communities in the state that face severe discrimination in society is the transgender community. There are no proper education and job opportunities for the transgender community. They are in need of financial assistance to pursue higher studies. Kerala government launched the Sabhalam scheme for transgender students so that they can pursue their professional courses.Eligibility Criteria for Kerala Sabhalam Scheme
To apply for Kerala Sabhalam Scheme 2022, the applicant must meet the below mentioned eligibility conditions.- The applicant must have secured admission to any government, aided college.
- They must possess a transgender ID card.
- Their age must be 18 years.
- Those who are below 18 must submit a certificate signed by the head of the educational institution or the parent.
Benefits of Kerala Sabhalam Scheme
Kerala state government’s Sabhalam scheme provides up to one lakh rupees financial assistance to the transgender students who are got admission in professional or diploma level courses. Students of MBBS, B.VSc, BSc agriculture students are eligible to get benefits from this scheme.How to Apply for Kerala Sabhalam Scheme
Eligible transgender students can apply for the Kerala Sabhalam scheme online by downloading the PDF of the application form.1) First, visit the official website of the social justice department of the Kerala government. http://sjd.kerala.gov.in/ is the link to download the application.
2) Click this to
see the homepage and choose the ‘Schemes’ option.
3) A page will be opened on
which there is link ‘Sabhalam scheme for Transgender Students pursuing
Professional Courses’. You can see this link in the list just click on it.
4) Now click on the “Document” section - > ‘application forms-Sabhalam
Scheme application form’. You can see the application form opening.
5) Download
the form and fill out the application form with the necessary details. Remember that the application must be filled out completely. Do not leave any field unfilled as this can
result in the application getting rejected.
6) Check the documents to be attached and
ensure that they are attached to the application. Check the application properly
and submit it to the concerned social justice officers. After verification of the
applications, the government will release the list of students selected for the
Sabhalam scheme.
