Parents whose children are suffering from problems such as mental retardation, cerebral palsy or autism suffer a lot as looking after them and supporting them is very stressful. Usually the mother is the person who takes the responsibility y for such children and provides them special care and attention. Such disabled persons need the support of others even for their daily activities. Widowed or divorced mothers of such children face many challenges if they have no regular income. Snehayanam scheme is to support such mothers by providing electric auto rickshaws to them.

Eligibility of Kerala Snehayanam Scheme
To avail of the benefits of the Snehayanam scheme of the Kerala government, one has to submit a Snehayanam application form after ensuring that they meet the following eligibility conditions.- Applicant must belong to the below poverty line category.
- They should not have any regular income source.
- The mother of a disabled child must be a widow, divorced or abandoned by the husband.
- They must have 3 wheeler license.
- They must not have completed the age of 55 years.
- The free electric auto rickshaw given under this scheme will be registered only in the name of the beneficiary.
Benefits of Snehayanam Scheme
Snehayanam scheme is designed to support the mothers who are economically backward and whose child is differently abled. Mothers can then run the autos to earn livelihood and look after their children. The applicant must have a valid 3 wheeler license to avail of the free electric auto rickshaw given under this scheme. Here is a list of documents required to submit the application form by mothers of PwDs who belongs to the BPL category to get the free electric auto rickshaws under this Kerala Snehayanam Scheme:- Xerox of Ration card.
- Xerox of Aadhar/ Proof of Identity of the applicant.
- Declaration from Village Officer/ Valid document proving that the applicant is widowed/legally divorced/ wife abandoned by husband.
- Xerox of 3 wheeler licence.
- Xerox of Medical Board certificate of PwD.
How to apply for Kerala Snehayanam Scheme
Let us now know how to submit the Snehayanam application form online.1) Visit the official website for Snehayanam
http://sjd.kerala.gov.in. The home page of the site will be
displayed.
3) It will redirect to the "Schemes" page. Then Scroll down to the bottom there you will be shown all the schemes of Kerala. In that list, you will find the "Snehayanam scheme for mothers of persons with special needs" click on that.
4) It will redirect to another page at the bottom you will find the ‘Documents’ section. You can see the “application forms – Snehayanam Scheme for mothers of persons with special needs” option. Click on that link.
6) Fill the application form and submit it to the concerned
officials.
7)The application will be verified and then approved if the
necessary documents are submitted.
8) Free electric auto rickshaws will then be given to the
applicant.
