Vizianagaram District With Mandals
Seventy per cent of the people in Vizianagaram district depend on agriculture for a living. The District has 30 kilometres long coastal line. The total forest area in the District is 1,13,922.73 hectares.
The proposal of setting up the Vijayanagaram district was there since 1862 when the British ruled India. After independence, Andhra Pradesh was separated from Tamilnadu in 1956. Vijayanagaram region was a part of the Visakhapatnam district. In 1978, then chief minister Marri Chennareddy created the Vijayanagaram district. In 1985, the District was divided into 34 mandals and 1642 villages and 1524 revenue villages in the District.
Present Now the District area is 4124 sq km, and Population is 19.30 lakhs. It consists of 3 Revenue Divisions and 27 Mandals, and 982 Villages. We have listed all the mandals of Vizianagaram district in below table:
