Application through Mobile App:
The government has launched an app called mPassport Seva, which allows citizens of India to apply for passports.
Passport Application Fees:
The cost of a regular passport is Rs 1,500. Expedited passport processing costs Rs 3,500. Senior citizens and children under eight get a ten percent discount on standard passport fees. They pay Rs 1,350 instead of Rs 1,500.
Tatkal Passport Application Process:
Below are the steps for passport application from the app.
1. Download the mPassport Seva app to your phone.
2. Register on the app by clicking “New User Registration.” Enter your name, birth date, email address, and other details.
3. Create a password and fill out the captcha. Submit the registration, and a verification code will be sent to your email.
4. Click on the verification code in your email to log in.
5. Select “Apply For Fresh Passport” and choose the nearest passport office and appointment date.
6. Choose whether you want a Tatkal or a Normal passport.
7. Submit the form and receive the appointment dates.
8. Confirm your appointment through email and SMS.
9. Submit your documents, including photo ID proof and address proof.
10. Attend the passport center on the scheduled date.
11. The police will verify your documents.
12. Once all verification is complete, your passport will be delivered to your home via speed post within seven days.
